Grafisches Kabinett
Studio Daniel Libeskind were commissioned by the Historical Museum of Osnabrück, Germany. A large cabinet was required for storage and display of their collection of historic art prints by Dürer and other artists. The form was derived from the letter 'O' for Osnabrück, taken from the German Gothic style text. The form was made in two pieces (on castors) which could easily be repositioned for various different functions; study chamber, seminar, exhibition etc. Each piece has solid outer walls for exhibition, sliding tables, and display cases. Cabinets doors on the inside of the pieces provided access to the artworks.
